Robotics – The Bane of Bionic Polar Bears: Saturday Jan 21st 2017 the robotics team made their bid for a place at regional competition at Covenant Christian School in Panama City. We are very proud that the team won first place in core values. The award that says that on competition day our team were the best sportsmen, the team with gracious professionalism and team problem solving skills. They also scored really well in the project category and had a good score in robot design. That made for a nail biter awards ceremony to see if they would move on to regionals because our table runs were not that good. We had a lot of small problems. In the end the high scores in the other three areas lifted our team to the fifth and final place moving on to regionals. The team knows what they need to fix if they wish to go on to state this year. If you want to see what the robot runs are like in competition the team will being doing a demonstration in the Parish hall Sunday 29th January after 10.15 mass to help kick off Catholic School week. Please come and visit with the team who have now won through to regionals in back to back seasons.
Protection in a Digital World: A Free, Important night for Anyone Who Uses the Internet and Mobile Devices.
- Monday, February 13, 6:00 p.m. St. John Catholic School
Steven Bradley, Safety and Technology Specialist for the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence, will present an interactive workshop demonstrating how technology can be used to harass, monitor and threaten. This eye-opening presentation will equip adults to protect children (and themselves) in an ever-changing digital world.
In 1999, Bradley was chosen by the FBI to start a task force to investigate Cyber crimes and began combating child pornography, cyber stalking, financial exploitation and apprehending child predators.
Participants will learn how to navigate essential privacy settings, techniques used by predators to manipulate children (without the child ever leaving their home) and much more.
This presentation is solely for those 18+. Childcare will be offered at no charge.
